Welcome to NYC!

When you are given the chance of having four days in the City that Never Sleeps, the pull to see everything and do everything that there is to do is hard to resist. We started off our marvelous adventure in New York by being reunited with my Grandma Janet! We were beyond eager to begin exploring the city together.

We were given an Uber ride into New York City! The minute the car entered the city we hit the wall of traffic. From where we had spent the night, right by the Newark Airport it was a little over 16 miles to the city, but when we hopped into the car we spent over an hour driving. It was very helpful to have something exciting to look at on the way in! We stayed at a cute hotel right across the street from the public library. We were able to drop off our bags and we started exploring right away.

To start off our first day we rented bikes and rode around Central Park. My mother hadn’t known that there were going to be hills so we were able to get a good workout on those!  For our very late lunch we had delicious dim sum. It was just what everyone was wanting. We were so tired that a chill night was welcomed by all. There was a very cute rooftop restaurant (my mother calls it a rooftop garden) where we had fancy drinks and a very light dinner!

For the second day, we hopped on a hop-on hop-off bus and rode that to Soho. From there we proceeded to have a scrumptious brunch and then walked around looking at all of the art! I was super excited when we stopped at the thrift shop I had been looking forward to going to! It is called Auh20 and we were able to find some cute clothing items there! We also caught a tour around the Statue of Liberty! The boat was packed full; it wasn’t the best boat ride but the view of the statue was outstanding, as were the views of Brooklyn and New York.  To end this day we finished it off with an average trip to Wholefoods because, as a group we were all a little too tired to keep moving!!

If you have ever wanted to experience walking around an aircraft carrier ship that went all around the sea and helped with some space efforts then the action-packed Intrepid Air Craft carrier might just be the thing for you. It was so unbelievable to read and see so much history in one area. Such sad and daring history was made on this ship that it makes it one of the coolest ships that I’ve ever been on.

We were so lucky and were able to go to a Broadway show! All the girls got dressed up and we went to watch Wicked! We enjoyed a nice dinner and a rainy night!

We welcomed our last full day with sore feet and droopy eyes! Lucky us though because, for part of the day, we were able to sit on our bottoms and watch as Brooklyn flashed before our eyes! It was such a cool place to take a bus ride in! When we have more time I will look forward to walking the Brooklyn bridge and exploring more of the area!

In addition to all of the above, we walked all over midtown, had many more delicious meals, and soaked in as much as possible. My first time to New York was a smashing success and it was filled with so many fun adventures, more laughs than I can count, and a much better trip with my family and grandma!!
