Our tour of the south continued with a stay along the Gulf Cost, food comas in New Orleans, making new memories with long-time friends, and another national park in Arkansas!

Savoring the Smokies
Ranking as the top visited National Park in the US, The Great Smoky Mountains NP straddles Tennessee and North Carolina, covering an area of over 800 square miles. In the time since we’ve left, The Smokies come up as one of our favorite parks and a place we all hope to visit again some day.
Washington DC: The Land of Endless Free Education
Exploring Washington DC was a great continuation of the US history tour we’ve been on with the girls and a paradise for any and all curious minds.
Back to (road) School in Cape May, NJ
From New York City we headed to Cape May, NJ to officially start school for the girls. Cape May is located on the southernmost tip of the Cape May Peninsula in eastern New Jersey. Surrounded by ocean beaches on three sides, the quaint resort town was the perfect place to slow down after the Big Apple and to sort out how all of this school stuff was going to work (spoiler alert: it was harder than I envisioned-go figure!).
Hiking the Peaks of Vermont & New Hampshire
As we sped through the northeastern part of the country we made time for two back-to-back hikes: Camel’s Hump in Vermont and Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. We chose these because we were promised expansive views and figured these would be the biggest bang for our buck. We were not disappointed!
